Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
This Privacy Notice for Ricardo Jorge Pinto da Silva Rato, empresário em nome individual ('we', 'us', or 'our'), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ('process') your personal information when you use our services ('Services'), including when you:
- Visit our website at https://www.eatease.eu or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Notice
- Download and use our mobile application (Eatease), or any other application of ours that links to this Privacy Notice
- Use Meal Planning Service. Eatease is a meal planning and nutritional tracking platform designed to help users organize their daily meals and monitor their macronutrients (such as calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fats). Currently, our website provides information about the service and allows visitors to sign up for the open test of our Android application. If you sign up, we email you a link to confirm your address and, once you confirm it, a second email with two links: one to join the open test on Google Play and one to install the app. Joining the test and installing the app happen on Google Play, under your Google account and Google's own terms; for the open test we do not add your email address to any Google Play tester list. People who joined the earlier closed test were added by us to that test's tester list in the Google Play Console, which means their addresses were shared with Google for that purpose, and they remain on that list while that test is active. We also use the address to send you updates and communications about the service.
- Engage with us in other related ways, including any marketing or events
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at privacy@eatease.eu.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Personal information you disclose to us
In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.
Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:
- names
- email addresses
- profile picture
- language preference
- account and subscription status, including the plan you are on and the dates of your current billing or trial period
Sensitive Information. Eatease is a meal planning and nutrition service, so the information you give us in order to receive it includes health-related data. When necessary, with your consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law, we process the following categories of sensitive information:
- Body and health data about you: age, sex, height, weight, body fat percentage, activity level, weight history and weight goals, dietary restrictions, and any health conditions you choose to record
- Nutritional goals derived from that data, such as daily calorie and macronutrient targets
- Body and health data about the members of your household that you choose to add, in the same categories as above — see 'DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?' below
- Photographs you take within the application of food or of the contents of your fridge, which may incidentally include other information captured by the camera
We use this information solely to calculate your nutritional needs, to suggest meals and portions, and to build your shopping list. Eatease is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register with us using your existing social media account details, like your Facebook, X, or other social media account. If you choose to register in this way, we will collect certain profile information about you from the social media provider, as described in the section called 'HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?' below.
Application Data. If you use our application(s), we also may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:
- Mobile Device Access. We request access to your mobile device's camera and photo library so that you can photograph a meal or the contents of your fridge and have the application recognise the food in it. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings. The application does not request or collect your location.
- Push Notifications. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the application(s). If you wish to opt out from receiving these types of communications, you may turn them off in your device's settings.
This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our application(s), for troubleshooting, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
Information automatically collected
In Short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, the country your IP address indicates, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.
The information we collect includes:
- Log and Usage Data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files. Depending on how you interact with us, this log data may include your IP address, device information, browser type, and settings and information about your activity in the Services (such as the date/time stamps associated with your usage, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take such as which features you use), device event information (such as system activity, error reports (sometimes called 'crash dumps'), and hardware settings).
- Device Data. We collect device data such as information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services. Depending on the device used, this device data may include information such as your IP address (or proxy server), device and application identification numbers, browser type, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration information.
- Location Data. We do not collect location data. The application does not use GPS or any other location technology, and it does not ask your device for permission to access your location. Like any internet service, our servers receive the IP address your device connects from, which indicates an approximate country; we do not use it to determine your location beyond that.
Google API
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
- To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts. We may process your information so you can create and log in to your account, as well as keep your account in working order.
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We may process your information to provide you with the requested service.
- To save or protect an individual's vital interest. We may process your information when necessary to save or protect an individual’s vital interest, such as to prevent harm.
3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason (i.e. legal basis) to do so under applicable law, like with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services to enter into or fulfil our contractual obligations, to protect your rights, or to fulfil our legitimate business interests.
If you are located in the EU or UK, this section applies to you.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. As such, we may rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
- Consent. We may process your information if you have given us permission (i.e. consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Learn more about withdrawing your consent.
- Performance of a Contract. We may process your personal information when we believe it is necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations to you, including providing our Services or at your request prior to entering into a contract with you.
- Legal Obligations. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations, such as to cooperate with a law enforcement body or regulatory agency, exercise or defend our legal rights, or disclose your information as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
- Vital Interests. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of a third party, such as situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person.
4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
In Short: We may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with the following categories of third parties.
Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents ('third parties') who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. We have contracts in place with our third parties, which are designed to help safeguard your personal information. This means that they cannot do anything with your personal information unless we have instructed them to do it. They will also not share your personal information with any organisation apart from us. They also commit to protect the data they hold on our behalf and to retain it for the period we instruct.
The categories of third parties we may share personal information with are as follows:
- Cloud hosting, database, file storage and authentication providers, which host the Services and everything you store in them
- Recipe data providers, which receive your recipe searches together with the dietary and cuisine preferences attached to them
- Artificial-intelligence model providers, which receive the photographs you take within the application in order to recognise the food in them, and the text of recipes in order to translate it. These providers process the data on our instructions
- Push notification providers, which receive the notification token of your device and the content of the notification
- App store and payment providers, as described in 'SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS' below
- A consent management provider, whose banner records the cookie choices you make on our website and, until you have made them, holds back the scripts that would otherwise set non-essential cookies
- An analytics provider, which measures how our website is used — see 'DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?' below. The mobile application contains no analytics
The current list of the individual providers within each of these categories is available on request at privacy@eatease.eu. We keep it there rather than in this notice because the provider used within a category may change without any change to the categories of data we process or to the purposes described here.
Where your information is stored
Our primary database and file storage are hosted in Switzerland. Switzerland is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data, so transfers from the European Economic Area to it do not require additional safeguards. Some of the providers listed above operate outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland; where that is the case, the transfer is made under the safeguards permitted by applicable data protection law.
We also may need to share your personal information in the following situations:
- Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
5. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.
We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. Some online tracking technologies help us maintain the security of our Services and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.
We do not serve advertising on our Services, we do not allow third parties to serve advertising on them, and we do not use tracking technologies to build advertising profiles or to retarget you elsewhere. We may advertise Eatease on other platforms, but that does not involve tracking you on our own Services. The only non-essential technology we use is the website analytics described below, and it does not run until you consent to it.
To the extent these online tracking technologies are deemed to be a 'sale'/'sharing' (which includes targeted advertising, as defined under the applicable laws) under applicable US state laws, you can opt out of these online tracking technologies by submitting a request as described below under section 'DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?'
Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Notice.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics on our website to understand how it is used — how many people visit, which pages they read, and which sources bring them to us — so that we can improve the site and know whether our own advertising elsewhere is reaching anyone. Google acts as our processor for this, and the information collected is about the use of the website, not about the contents of your Eatease account.
Google Analytics does not run, and sets no cookies, until you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner. Our consent manager holds the tag back until then, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie preferences link on our website. You can also opt out across all websites using Google's own browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. For more information on Google's privacy practices, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms page.
We do not enable Google's advertising features in Google Analytics, so the data is not used for advertising audiences or remarketing. The mobile application contains no analytics at all — this applies to the website only.
6. HOW DO WE HANDLE YOUR SOCIAL LOGINS?
In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.
Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your third-party social media account details (like your Facebook or X logins). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information about you from your social media provider. The profile information we receive may vary depending on the social media provider concerned, but will often include your name, email address, friends list, and profile picture, as well as other information you choose to make public on such a social media platform.
We will use the information we receive only for the purposes that are described in this Privacy Notice or that are otherwise made clear to you on the relevant Services. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider. We recommend that you review their privacy notice to understand how they collect, use, and share your personal information, and how you can set your privacy preferences on their sites and apps.
7. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS
In Short: We do not collect or process your payment details. Purchases are handled by the app store, and we only store the resulting status of your subscription.
Eatease offers a free trial period and, after it, paid subscription plans. When you subscribe from the mobile application, the purchase, its renewal, its cancellation and any refund are handled entirely by the app store your device uses — Google Play on Android, and the App Store on iOS. Your payment method, card details and billing address are given to that store and never to us. We never see them, and we cannot access them.
What the store sends back to us, and what we store, is limited to what we need in order to know whether your account is entitled to the paid features:
- The identifier of the plan you purchased
- The status of the subscription — for example trialing, active, cancelled, in a grace period, or expired
- The start and end dates of the current billing or trial period, and whether the subscription is set to end at the end of that period
- A transaction identifier issued by the store, which lets us match a purchase, a renewal or a cancellation to your account and lets us avoid processing the same transaction twice
You manage and cancel your subscription in the app store itself, not through us. Cancelling there takes effect according to that store's terms, and we are informed of the outcome so that your account reflects it.
The free trial, and why deleting your account does not reset it
The free trial is offered once. So that it cannot be taken repeatedly by deleting an account and creating a new one, we keep a record of the trial periods that have already been granted. That record does not contain your email address or your account details: it holds a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address and of your sign-in provider identifier, together with the start and end dates of the trial. A hash cannot be reversed back into your email address.
This record is kept even when you delete your account, because that is the only way it can serve its purpose; it is retained under our legitimate interest in preventing repeated use of a one-time offer. If you delete your account and later create a new one with the same identity, the original trial window is resumed, with whatever remained of it, rather than a new one being granted.
8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). With one exception, described next, no purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period of time in which users have an account with us.
The exception is the record of free trial periods already granted, described in 'SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS'. That record holds no email address and no account details — only a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address and of your sign-in provider identifier, together with the dates of the trial. It is kept after an account is deleted, because keeping it is the only way it can do its job: ensuring the one-time free trial is offered once. We retain it under our legitimate interest in preventing repeated use of a one-time offer.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymise such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organisational and technical security measures.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organisational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorised third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.
10. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
In Short: Only an adult can hold an Eatease account. An adult account holder may add members of their household, including children, and enter body and health data about them.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an Eatease account, and the application enforces this: an account holder who gives an age under 18 cannot complete registration. Children do not have accounts, do not log in, and do not interact with the Services themselves, and we do not market to them.
The Services do, however, let an adult account holder plan meals for their household. If you choose to add a household member, you enter their name or nickname, their relationship to you, and the body data needed to calculate their nutritional needs — age, sex, height, weight, activity level and any dietary restrictions. A household member may be a child; the nutritional calculations for anyone under 18 follow paediatric energy requirements rather than the adult equations, which is why their age is needed.
By adding a household member who is a minor, you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or that you are otherwise authorised to provide their information to us. This information is entered by you, is visible only within your account, and is deleted together with your account. You can remove a household member, and their data, at any time from within the application.
If you believe a child has created an account or that we hold information about a child other than as described above, please contact us at privacy@eatease.eu and we will delete it promptly.
11. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: Depending on your state of residence in the US or in some regions, such as the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information. You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.
In some regions (like the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; (iv) if applicable, to data portability; and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making. In certain circumstances, you may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information. You can make such a request by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section 'HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?' below.
We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
If you are located in the EEA or UK and you believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you also have the right to complain to your Member State data protection authority or UK data protection authority.
If you are located in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section 'HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?' below or updating your preferences.
However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
Opting out of marketing and promotional communications: You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send, or by contacting us using the details provided in the section ' HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE? ' below. You will then be removed from the marketing lists. However, we may still communicate with you — for example, to send you service-related messages that are necessary for the administration and use of your account, to respond to service requests, or for other non-marketing purposes.
Account Information
If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:
- Log in to your account settings and update your user account.
- Contact us using the contact information provided.
Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.
Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at privacy@eatease.eu.
12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ('DNT') feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognising and implementing DNT signals has been finalised. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognising or honouring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.
Global Privacy Control: We recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If you use a browser or extension that supports GPC, we will treat this as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will automatically apply your opt-out preference without requiring you to take any additional action. For more information about GPC and how to enable it, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.
13. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law. More information is provided below.
